Here is a great comment from one of our First Impression interviews. This came from a family member who was interested in admitting her mother into this facility:
"I went in unannounced, and it was right in the middle of a Christmas party. I was so pleased with the admission person because she took the time to show me around and explain everything in detail and spent a lot of time asking about my mother's needs. I spent two hours with them. I was thoroughly impressed."
We should be prepared for an inquiry at ANY time. More and more, potential inquiries are being taught that an unannounced tour is the best way to truly see how a facility is running.
