Quick Tip: Referral Sources

Do you know what your local discharge planners are telling prospective clients about your facility or agency? From a marketing point of view, this is some of the most important feedback we should be aware of.

Over the years, we have been asked if we can conduct such feedback interviews. Quite honestly, conducting these interviews is just about impossible. We have found that discharge planners generally see it as a conflict of interest to give specific feedback regarding those they refer to.

So how do you get this feedback? Best practice is to make sure you ask each inquiry, referral, and admission the reason they chose to inquire about your specific facility/agency. Here are just a few of these powerful comments we have received by asking this question:

"We were told at the hospital that this was the best facility in the area for Physical Therapy."

"We were pleased and yet surprised with how good the care was, especially considering the negative information that we initially received from the hospital."

"We were so pleased with the care my mother received, I couldn't wait to go back to the social workers at the hospital and thank them for the recommendation."
